anyone have pictures of rooms in sansom west? singles in particular. thanks!

um... well... i don't have pics, but i know the dorms well... there is a hotel feel to the building, the dorms are very spacious compared to other dorms... tends to be grads or upperclassmen... appliances ween a bit to the old side

I like the thrills, you are transferring right? well I'll be a soph next year and I too will be living in sansom west...i went and visited my room at the end of this past semester...the common rooms in the apts are pretty large but the bedrooms are small and the building does have a hotel feeling to it.

bern700, they put me in a single room...which is good for space but not for meeting people. i will be a rising sophomore doing engineering. i think i'm on the 10th floor, my room number is in the 1000's. do you have a link to the housing rates online? send me an i.m. and we'll chat: mdford86

yeah i'm on the 6th floor in a double with a friend of mine and 2 of my other friends are living next door. Here is the link to the rent info.

btw my aim is the same as my cc name.

bern, you wouldn't happen to know a guy named diexia would you

I'll be on the first floor in Sansom East.

It looks like Sansom East has all graduate students and West is a combination of graduate students AND upperclassmen. Is this correct?

yeah thomas you're correct and i like the thrills i don't know diexia.

bern700,
Where do Penn students go to apply for internships? Do the companies come to campus or do you just go to each company's website and apply?

does anyone know if the singles or apartments in sansom west are carpeted? also, are singles and apartments on the same hall? and: what is the social scene like there? i'm assigned a single and i'm worried that it will be too quiet...do people leave their doors open and hang out? thanks!

-well you can usually go to career services and the they can provide you with a list of available internships/company visits/interview days/etc. Some do it on their own if the firms they are looking at don't usually recruit at penn (mostly people wanting to work for more regional companies in regions other than the mid atlantic/new england).

I believe the apartments and singles are carpeted except for maybe the bathroom and kitchen. From what i've heard there isn't really much of a social scene in sansom because it is a graduate building...also i don't know if the singles and apts are on the same floors.

carpeting is in the living space, the bedroom... but other than that there is no carpet... and no people tend not to open their doors... that's more in the hill/quad buildings

One thing you have to remember about Sansom is that becuase it houses primarily graduate/professional students, the "social" scene will be quite different than in the dorms of undergraduates. A lot of graduate students like to be alone because some may be working while going to school. Others take their studies very seriously (not that undergrads don't), but the graduate students are in a different phase of their life and partying is not the top priority in their lives anymore.

bah, why does penn housing throw us transfers there

thrills...I will be in Sansom because I requested it due to my age, but that's where they put the "traditional-aged" transfers? You guys don't get to choose?

it was my 8th choice on the housing sheet
