I complete agree with you hornetguy, about those who would try to deceive and pretend to be something they are not, and have not earned.
But I think there are a lot of 4 digs who would not even consider doing that.
I misunderstood and thought the change itself was unwelcomed. My bad.

no problemo! I see no problem with the changes, I think its smart honestly.

Actually, you would be surprised RoleoMom. At the beginning of the fall semester, everyone is just glad to be done with basic and the overwhelming majority of 4-digs don't try stuff from the get-go...but just wait a few weeks. By Prog (mid-october) it starts becoming a problem. I know because my squad never got any lasting privileges last fall because my classmates kept getting caught. By Recognition I would bet that 80% of 2012 will have attempted to impersonate as an upper at least once...I say that because that's what I saw as a 4-dig.

Honestly though, any upper who cares can spot the majority of 4-digs even when they're in civvies (another thing you don't want to get caught doing before Recognition). I could usually tell if someone was my classmate even after Recognition.

It wasn't nearly that bad from my perspective. We had two or three guys in my squadron try to walk across the Terrazzo, which is only about 10%. Still, it does happen.

no one mentioned the printed names to us.. it all seemed normal when we got our PC gear. i'd gladly write my name if i had to.. the boots that we have are terrible. they say we have it easy because we dont have tos hine them; over 5 guys in my flight have holes in their boots.. that's $100. ABUs are nice for the most part though.. and we've been held to higher standards on other things because we have "more time." riiiiight.. but still. we start doing other things besides shining/ironing which we still have to do anyway (for black shoes and blues uniforms)

HNeedle I was at the Nellis BX last week and saw someone with those boots that had been worn a little. A shiver went up my spine thinking about you guys in Jack's Valley with them. You'll all come out barefoot in three weeks.
