Anybody go to Pierce? I have a question for you.

I want to sign up for a summer class and I don't normally go there. Is there anyway to get added into a class that is closed?

All you have to do is go sit in that class you want to add. Most likely, the professor will ask, "Anyone looking to add?"

Raise your hand and they'll give you the verdict, "Sorry, there is a waitlist, you can wait and see..." or "I won't be adding anyone" OR "Ok, take this slip."

you have to fill it out (put student ID number, class number, etc), have the professor sign it and stand in a LONG A$$ line in Admissions (the building RIGHT across the English building, other side from the garden... you'll know what i'm talking about, lol).

Then just give the processed slip to your professor.

Try to get on the waitlist if at all possible. If not, I suggest you find a different class, because the chance of adding can be pretty slim (unless it's an obscure class).

If you are looking to add a math, english, or speech class, good luck. Those are usually the ones that fill up the fastest. Also, Pierce does have two summer sessions. If you can't get into A, try and sign up for B since most students usually take the earlier session.

Thanks guys.

I normally attend College of the Canyons, and am taking trig in their summer session A. But ONLY Pierce offers Pre-calc in the 2nd session. So obviously it is important I get in it.

I tried to register earlier, but they will not let me register until I have, in writing, a passing grade for trig. So I have to sit in on the first day, can't register earlier. I just wasn't sure if they still added afterwards if a class was 'closed.'

It was still open until 2 days ago or so...maybe I'll get lucky. Pfft.

If you need a passing grade for trig, then you need a passing grade for trig. They won't let you register without it, they're annoying like that.

Did you take it at College of Canyons (the one my little cousin is going to over summer! lol)? If so, you need to get your transcript from them and bring it to Pierce, show it to the placement office and hopefully they'll override that.

Moorpark just asks you what you took last. Pierce makes you come in and take a stupid test! bleh.

Yeah, Pierce is really anal about stuff like that. Back when I was taking English 101 over winter, they wouldn't let me sign up for 102 until after winter session was over and my grade was in. Yeah right, by that time all classes were full and I had to wait until that following summer to take it. Way lame. Goodbye Pierce! ;)

haha, i figured as much that you went there.

so did i and MAN am I glad to be done with that crap! =P

I also complained to the Board of The Advisory Committee about our crappy counselors. He told me that this isn't the first time he's heard this complaint and asked me if I was interested in peer counseling.

Clearly, nothing has happened yet.

And what's with that stupid Student Center? That Wii Contest? If someone is good enough to beat everyone at a Wii contest, i don't think he needs a Wii!

Good for you! The counselors at that school are horrible. I can't even tell you how many times I was told "ummm, I'm not sure." I had to figure out everything for myself.

That new student center is so random. Don't even know the point of it. dude, you know some computer/video-game geek is going to win that so it's pointless for real people to try. lol

I take everything counselors say with a grain of salt for sure.

Damn. Stupid Pierce. So basically I'm not getting into pre-calc. That sucks so bad...throws everything off by a semester.

I hate community college. sigh...

you can go take the placement test, since you don't attend pierce regularly. if you take it, you can place into pre-calc.

since it's 2nd session, you've got time. go check the website for placement exam times. =)

Thanks xleper17. Only problem is, is that I haven't took trig yet. Think I could place in pre-calc? I've took college algebra...not too sure how similar pre calc and algebra are...

I'm sure you'll be fine! Tell them you took Algebra II and you gotta do well to place yourself in pre-calc. You really don't need trig. I got a C in trig (not UC transferable) and I got an A in physics, the reason i took trig.

Thanks! It's worth a shot...no harm in trying! I'll have to try this out next week.
