Pierce to a UC (not SD, LA, or B)

hi guys, im currently a freshmen at Pierce and i really dont have a clue about this transfer thing. I am going to talk to a counselor after the Spring session is over.

Wanting to transfer to UCI UCD or UCSB as a Biological Science major and change it to Pharmaceutical Science after i Transfer.

Do you guys think TAG is a good idea for me to do? (i am almost done with the IGETC classes just need about 3 more)

i know u need at least a 3.0 GPA to transfer to a UC
Could u still get into a UC with a GPA lower then 3.0?

and i jus really need any info u guys could provide
thanx

if ur planning to sign tag, u need to have a 3.0. im not sure if biological science is impacted at those colleges…

You should really sign a TAG. I’m a student at Pierce as well.

hows TAG work exactly?
so lets say i have a 3.0 GPA and i completed all the requirement classes for TAG as a bio major

am i in 100%?

It depends on the college. Some colleges have additional major requirements, and some have certain majors ineligible for TAG. For example, at UCSB:

[UCSB Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/prospective/LSTAGCriteria.asp)

Pierce here, too. Not for much longer, thankfully.
You can get into a few UCs with below a 3.0… if my memory serves, UC stat finder lists the mean GPAs for Pierce->M/R/SC as 2.9ish. TAG can’t hurt, but if you can get a GPA around 3.4, it seems unnecessary for the schools you mentioned.

ohhh aright, i understand it a lil better now…thanx to all who posted

For uci, everyone is admitted as a bio sci major. You have to take additional courses and apply to actually get into the pharm sci major. Here are the requirements:

http://www.changeofmajor.uci.edu/CoM_BioSci.html</a></p>

At least 5 science classes at UCI before you can actually declare the major.

For UCSB, I think you get directly admitted into the major.

There is also pharmacological chemistry at UCSD and Molecular Toxicology at UCB if you were wondering.

You have a shot at SB and D with below a 3.0… but probably not lower then like a 2.9

go talk to chris lauterdale

she can help answer your questions better
