Pitt Acceptance Letters Mailed?

My daughter just received a large envelope from the University Of Pittsburgh with "Congratulations" on the outside. I won't open it for her but through the window on the envelope I could see some of the letter and it said "Congratulations on your acceptance....". That was all I could see.

The online Pitt portal still says "Application Complete".

Anyone else receive notification from Pitt (and actually opened the envelope)?

Just curious, when did she get all of her info in? I believe Pitt JUST received my HS transcript, so I doubt I’ll get this early of an acceptance…

She finished her application and “sent it” online during the first week of September. Our HS sent us a post card on September 7th indicating that they mailed the transcript on that date. We actually put the request in two weeks earlier and it took that long for our HS to “process” the request. I received notification from the online portal that the application was complete when I checked it Friday (9-11). BTW - we live in W-PA.

It sounds similar to the envelope they used a few years ago. You know you are accepted since Congratulations is emblazoned on the front!

Thank God! I already called my wife and she is sitting on the edge of her seat waiting for my daughter to get home and open this envelope. Of course my daughter chose today to take her friend shopping for a homecoming dress. She should be home soon…

For further reassurance, that’s the same envelope my daughter got two years ago when she was accepted. Her’s came on October 3rd.

OK…it is confirmed. She has been accepted into the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Yayyyyyy!!! She and my wife (Pitt nursing alum) are thrilled. Thanks everyone for the reassurances and you were correct.

Good Luck to all those still waiting!!!

FWIW - the date on the letter (not the postmark) was September 25, 2009.

Care to share her gpa/test scores? I tried looking at your past posts, but didn’t really find any indicators. Just trying to gauge my chances at this early of an acceptance

GPA=3.8 UW
SAT= 630 Math + 700 CR = 1330 / 1600
SAT Writing = 670
SAT= 2000/2400

Good, but not as amazing as many others on this board.

Good luck to those still waiting!

Ok, I don’t think I’m going to tell D that the letters have started going out. Her application was complete about a week after aglages’ D’s application, so maybe something is on it’s way to eastern PA or will be soon. D doesn’t expect to hear until the end of October so she’s not rushing to the mailbox yet, but if I tell her people are getting letters it will probably just raise the anxiety level. I’ll let her remain blissfully unaware…but I’ll be stalking the mail carrier looking for that special envelope!

Her stats are similar to aglages’ D (a little higher GPA, a little lower SAT); I hope they’re close enough for a similar outcome. {fingers crossed}

Good Luck mrsref. Might just be that the mail takes a little longer to get to E-PA.

Congratulations on your daughter’s acceptance!

Congratulations to your daughter! I hope some merit aid finds its way to her too!

On behalf of my daughter, thank you Montegut & LurkNessMonster for the the congrats.
Aid? You mean like assistance? Like help? C’mon, just let me enjoy the moment without teasing me. <grin></grin>

I submitted my app in July (free application on visit), and I requested my transcript and stuff to be sent 2 and a half weeks ago. Today the portal says it’s complete, so could I expect a decision in the next few weeks?

It would seem that the application committee has begun to meet. I’m sure it won’t be too long before you “hear” something. Best of luck!

Did the packet include information on scholarships? Or will scholarship awards be made later on?

Thanks :)

From what I remember, Honors College info was usually included with acceptance. There would be mention of it and that more information would be forthcoming from the Honors College. Scholarship awards usually came 2 - 4 weeks after acceptance letter.

In my daughter’s letter there was not any mention of either the Honors College or scholarships. However, she only has a 1330 SAT and I think the cutoff for Pitts Honor College is 1400 (I could be wrong).

I think that last year honors college material was later than the acceptance but not much.
