On second thoughts med school and stuff will take wayyyy too long for my liking. I wonder if I can get admission into pharmacy? I am interested in pharmacy too!

Pharmacy is going to be interesting to watch. The government will do nothing about crazy oil prices, but mark my words, they're going to try to start regulating pharmaceutical companies soon. I could do an econ speel but i'll save that for later :-)

Just wait for that to happen and see every potential miracly drug evaporate. You cannot make drugs more affordable by legislation; you are just going to create shortages and stifle new inventions. Good time to move to Australia :)

Move to Australia?
Why the heck would I do that?
I like my violent video games :-P

Pitt has a nice pharmacy school :)

Weeee I got a tuition scholarship it seems

I'm still waiting :-/

i got in too
no surprise
full tuition yada yada

What were your stats, iamabsolutelygorgeous?

Nevermind This is her from a post about her getting full tuition at Brandeis...

Stats:
SAT I: 790M/ 740CR/ 680W
SAT IIs:Math IIC: 800, US History: 770, Biology: 710
ACT: NA
GPA: 4.099
Rank:8/270?
Other stats: Like I would tell you...well i can't...
Play's soccer too.

I heard back today, got 2000 a year. Bah :-/

Pitt gave u 2000 a yr? I don't understand...
if i remember right, students with similar stats got full rides...call them, perhaps it can better your amount.

I heard back on the phone, they said something about kids getting 1470's to get or qualify for the full tuition. I did talk to the person responsible for all this stuff on the phone, and sounded pretty firm on that. Needless to say, i'm pretty dissapointed. My rank in school is lower only because of certain rigorous classes that aren't offered weighted and i didn't think that was that big of a deal. I like doing well, but i'm no GPA Monger, i'll take a hard class to get something out of it.

The person i spoke to (Ron Jancowski (SP?)) said well you got a 1430 SAT and the competition is a tougher this year and i would have had to have a 1470 to be competetive for it. I called back after thinking and asked if applying earlier would have helped and at first he said no, but then i said well if you didn't know the pool was going to be tougher this year then wouldnt you have given a student applying early admission and scholarship based on last years statistics. He replied that it wouldnt have made a big difference.

I'm pretty disheartened by this right now, i guess i'll end up doing the chancellors essays anyway, but if im not mistaken you get the 2000 just for getting into honors and from Stats that i too have seen, it didn't make sense.

I too don't understand why you didn't get full tuition... my stats are kind of similar to yours (my sat's and gpa are a little higher though) but I got full tuition... I applied end of September though... I think timing, no matter what they say, had much to do with it...btw..i didn't have a 1470

Yeah i suppose it was timing too, which is bogus, but i guess its how things are done for schools such as pitt with rolling admissions.

Timing makes sense for rolling admission schools, but one would think they would refrain from giving out the big scholarships until all apps were read and all interviews were done. Not so. :(

Yeah, I agree with that sendiment. I wonder if talking to them on the phone some more or talking to them at pitt would make any difference. The guy on the phone seemed pretty firm.

They do the scholarship handouts as a committee though, and if i'm not mistaken they get together once a month to decide this stuff. This is bogus though...

I'll get over it soon enough, i hope. Haha.

Yea I guess you had to apply earlier for the scholarships. GL with everything else though.

yea, im sorry things didnt work out as planned... i hope you get into all of your other schools...and maybe pitt will have a change of heart!

i just don't understand your not getting a full ride. I know for sure that applicants with much lower (1350 and thereabouts) have got full rides. Of course their ranks are better and as are their GPAs...still...
I think perhaps you could write to the admissions and financial aid office, nicely, wondering why you did not get the full tuition. You can say your friend called and was told that you must have a 1350 to qualify and if so, you amply qualify...(BTW that is the truth) And, I know someone who got their full tuition award mid Jan....so this is only a couple of weeks later.
