ridethecliche:
BTW what other schools have you applied to...are you a National Merit finalist...if so, tons of schools will give you a lot of money. And What is your major again?

hey someone looked me up...hmph. But anyways yep my stats are as reported. I guess it helps that I live in PA. And you know I take a lot of hard courses too. Let see I took 2 APs last year, 2 honors classes as well. And this year Im taking hmmmm like 5 or 6 APs...dont feel like thinking... so that is sort of difficult, and 1 honors class. But anyways it kind of is by luck...although I sent my stuff in on January 15th...mayhap u'll get a scholarship mayhap you wont.

oh yea and im so far a nation merit semifinalist so that could help...

Haha, naa i didnt do well on the PSAT.
I got deferred early action from the University of Chicago. Other schools i applied to are cornell, colgate, penn state (for schreyers),wesleyan, and university of rochester. I'm having trouble with some of the apps since 2 of my teachers sent in recs and all of them have gone missing in the mail. I have to get the recs in again, i think the schools might have misfiled them so i might try calling again. Scrambling to get the recs in again though, this is annoying.

I put down pre-med as a major for pitt to see if anything would happen with the med program for that, but i want to be a biochemistry or economics major in undergrad.

Yeah, i took two AP's last year and i'm in 6 now so i'm in the entire hard courseload area also. All my other classes have been honors where offered and most of my electives have been honors science classes, so i've taken a rigorous schedule also.

I live in PA also.

when did you turn in your application for Pitt, and also I should mention Im Chinese...so that could help me at Pitt since there arent as many Asian as some of the IVY league schools. lol

Sorry to triple post, but if i'm not mistaken you need to have a 1350 to qualify for their honors college mumsie.

My school uses weighted ranks and i took two anatomy classes (i received an A- and an A), and these classes aren't weighted for GPA even though most students taking the class and taking AP's and Honors classes agree that the class is much harder than most honors classes and some AP classes due to the workload. My school has a number of rank 1's and i think as per ranks i'm in the top 10, probably less, numerical ranks (i.e. rank 1's are 1, next rank is a 15 this is a 2, so on).

I guess it's my fault for not applying earlier, but deadlines for consideration should be held. I think i will take your advice and write to them, and i'll be applying for chancellors to hopefully tip the scales and make them up my award. Thanks for the advice :-)

Pitt isn't ivy, and it has a large number of asians. I'm indian, and i'm an immigrant. I've lived in india for most of my life (only been here like 6 years), i thought that'd be a hook of sorts haha, guess not.

I had my app in by the jan 15th deadline for scholarship consideration.

hmmmm weird...cause u def look like u got the stats. and i already know pitts not IVY. It just that the Asian pop. at Pitt, according to collegeboard.com is quite low in comparison.

Haha, of course. I was just messing with you. Btw, nice wu tang on your myspace haha.

good luck ridethecliche...if it's any consolation, our whole family is rooting for you....hope you get a good scholarship at some univ

Holy **** cliche I been here for 6 years too..what part u from?

New Delhi. Yourself?

Born and raised :-P

Thanks a lot mumsie, et all :-)

But mumsie, i don't think i'm going to be getting any merit money from other places i applied to. Just hoping they give good packages.

Raised in Calcutta. At least the climates nice :#

Lets hope you do...you never know, we are being continually surprised.

ty...i love myspace lol

Hey my first post! Here are the stats I sent to Pitt:

ACT: 33
GPA: 4.00/4.00
Rank: 1/50
EC: Varsity Cross-Country, Band, Drama, Technology Academy, Good Internship
Im also out-of-state.

Thats all I submitted and I was admitted to the Honors College with a full-tuition scholarship!

Oh well, no Chancellor's for me. Got the letter saying that I will not be asked to interview.

Ok quick question: Should I bother applying for Chancellor? My grades and testing are ok, but my Extra Curriculars consist of 2 club, and I have 51 hrs of volunteer for my senior year. Since about 12 people are selected out of 700, is this a waste of my time? I think so, but my mom does not :X

somebodynew: when did you apply for the chancellor's? i sent my app in over a month and a half ago and haven't heard anything back yet...was this letter in the mail or on email?
