Just looked at program status on mobile app and it changed from applicant to accepted!!! Yahoo!
When did you apply?
July 8 th swanson school of engineering!
How bout u
Congrats…I applied in August. My ACT scores aren’t that great. I applied to Dietrich.
@Moms123 Congrats on your acceptance. My son also got in to Swanson. He is thinking Mechanical Engineering. He is still waiting on other schools but after his visit at Pitt I think he was hooked.
ADMITTED in the portal today!
Swanson School of Engineering
Applied July 18th
SO excited for our daughter! Pitt is her absolute first choice for many reasons.
Great news @carachel2 ! I have visited several engineering schools with my son and Pitt was my favorite. I think he is leaning that way too.
@bobOfBowie … Same here! I think we have visited eight?
She/we love the collaborative approach and that unique freshman experience. A program that seeks to grow you as a new engineer instead of pitting you against one another is definitely a good thing!
I just received an email today saying I got accepted
Hey all. My son’s portal read “admitted” on 09-27 and then he received email w/ video today 09-29. ACCEPTED!
Stats:
Accepted: Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, Socio-cultural Anthropology

Accepted: 09-29
Weighted GPA: 3.95
4 AP classes and a boatload of honors/accelerated classes
“5” on AP Euro
“4” on AP US History
SAT Subject - US History 730
Currently taking AP Psych & AP World
27 ACT - Pitt converted it to a 1290 SAT on the portal
Replied to all three short answer questions - lots of leadership experience with Model UN, basketball & track, and the same service organization for three years.
PA resident
Visited campus in late August and it became his first choice!
Was considering: Lafayette, Wake Forrest, Elon, Gettysburg, Vandy (serious reach) and, of course — PITT! His first choice is Pitt! So it looks like he’s going to Pitt!
Hope this helps you all during your wait. I know this blog was informative for us! Great people on here including & especially @hailtopitt1787 - thanks for the ride!
Good luck to all the applicants!
@chasegriff Congrats to your son! Would you suggest only submitting the ACT or SAT since they convert it anyways? I didn’t know that and I was going to send both my ACT(higher score) and SAT(slightly lower, more evenly spread out breakdown). Since they use the composite ACT should I just send that?
I would send SAT and ACT score
Congrats to your son!! Not sure what field of engineering my son wants to explore. He really loved Pitt when we visited… its the only place he applied to so far.
Congratulations to all the acceptance!
@hailtopitt1787 My D received acceptance email and letter last week, but her portal status has not been updated. Is it normal?
@dadofd, It shouldn’t be an issue, but feel free to contact our office if you want to verify that all is well: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
@hailtopitt1787 Thank you! I just called the office and was assured that it is not a problem at all.
My S17 applied with his ACT Scores. I read in one of the posts that they convert it to SAT Score. Where can I find his SAT score
Received a letter yesterday asking for my mid year grades and senior ACT/SAT if I was taking them. My stats are not super high but within the range. 9 AP and Honors classes and Honor societies, sports, volunteer activities, etc. I am not sure what my actual chances are at this point. Applied to Dietrich at the end of July. Not sure if I am going to call and ask for more information or if that is being too forward or pesky. I have heard bombarding them with letters and resumes, etc. are not really what they want. Like everyone else, was hoping I would be finished.
@rsmith0208 Not sure if this will help, but if you log in to the https://psmobile.pitt.edu/app/dashboard, on the left menu expand Academics. Under there is Test Scores. Not sure if I will have what you want. My son took the old SAT and it showed is submitted scores as well as what his scores are converted to the new SAT.
