Pitt Decision

@hailtopitt1787

You are probably very busy right now. However, I have a quick question about the application process.

I applied on September 22 and haven’t received an email or letter of acceptance. So, I had just assumed that the decision wasn’t made yet.

Then I checked the Pitt portal and I saw that there was now a section where I could accept to decline in the admissions tab. Does this mean I am accepted even though I haven’t received an email?

That seems to be the case for most of the acceptances I have seem posted. The email usually comes 2-7 days after the buttons appear. Good luck.

Thank you for the information, I now have to wait for a formal letter of email!

@“Pau_pack@2021” My daughter saw the buttons on Sunday and got her acceptance letter in the mail today - no email yet.

@MDmom2021 Do you know when Pit will send out the financial aid packages? Or when they will release the merit scholarships?

@“Pau_pack@2021” I don’t know but assume that is more like March after all applications have been reviewed. From what I read last year, they give very little merit aid, almost exclusively needs based. One guy got into MIT and was not offered any money from Pitt.

@“Pau_pack@2021” if I remember correctly from last year, kids started receiving notice of merit scholarships in late Nov/Dec. Financial aid packages are released in March.

@Pau-pack@2021 I hope life is different for this year’s applicants but last year my high stats daughter was accepted to Pitt within 10 days of applying in October and we waited all the way until March and she received no merit. All but one other school (big name school who doesn’t usually give scholarships) gave her merit. She loved Pitt and after waiting patiently from October to March only to receive nothing was heartbreaking. Needless to say, she opted not to pay OOS tuition to attend Pitt and is happily attending another school that gave her a great merit award. Please tell your kids to keep an open mind through the process. From diligently reading last year’s thread, most applicants received their merit awards within a couple of weeks after acceptance even though they tell you awards keep going out until March. I think a few were surprised by receiving a award in January and then really nothing after that.

My high stats daughter applied in late August, got her admit early September, and just got merit aid letter October 27 (10k a year, renewable for 4 years). Financial aid office told her aid letters will come out Feb/March.

My daughter got a merit letter today for $5,000 a year for 4 years. Was admitted about a month ago.

Was the merit aid letter US mail only or can you see it online as well

@kevi2900 US Mail only

@MDmom2021 If you’re comfortable sharing, what were her stats? Trying to gauge it for myself, waiting on the snail mail.

@namelessnancy SAT 1420 (700 M, 720 V), 4.0 UW GPA, 4.65 W GPA, 5 APs so far (all 5s and one 4) and 4 APs this year. Good luck! I don’t think she will apply to honors, we don’t really see the benefit since the housing is further from campus, it’s not tied to merit, and anyone can take an honors class if they want.

@MDmom2021 Thank you for sharing! Great stats, congrats to you daughter :smiley:

Received merit letter (dated 10/28)in the postal mail with 20K/year scholarship . Nothing in PittPortal>Financials section.

Good luck everyone !!!

@ttb11263: Hurray! Still waiting here for some assistance. Pitt is her #1 choice but not doable at full cost.

@2021YayCollege

Still a bit short of what we are hoping for but she is also apply to Honors and BS/MD program.

As for now, she can go to Pitt if all other schools reject her . :wink:

My DD just submitted her application yesterday. Will she receive an email about how to get into the portal? If so how long does that take?

For those receiving merit do you receive with the acceptance letter you receive in the mail or separate? My son received the acceptance but no mention of merit in the letter.
