Pitt FAQs

@SarthakP, As RyanG1207 stated, we are trying to communicate on our site that we do not require letters of recommendation and that the Admissions Committee has found the optional Short Answer Responses to be most helpful in the admissions review process.

If you get selected to apply for the Stamps Leadership scholarship (PA residents) or Chancellor’s scholarship, you will need letters of recommendation then.

Thank you for your help!

One more question. I had submitted all the information today on the UPitt site and after I submitted it, there was a notification that stated within 1 week, I will receive a link to check my submission, additional details, and the Short Answer Response form.

I’m worried about this. The deadline for the application is Dec. 1 so if I receive the link back in say, 4 days from now, wouldn’t I miss the deadline?

@SarthakP, Pitt is a rolling admissions school so there is no deadline to worry about. Good luck!

@sarthakP, Since your application is submitted, you will be considered within the Dec 1 deadline. The short answer questions are optional and are not required for your application to be considered complete by the guaranteed admission program deadline.

Best of luck!

How many years doe it take to complete Pitt’s PA program? I know many schools do a 2+3 program but some colleges have 6 years. I can’t find specifics online. Would anyone know?

@SarthakP, The Physician Assistant Program takes 2 years (6 semesters). You apply to the program with a four year undergraduate degree. You can find the curriculum here: https://www.shrs.pitt.edu/PA/PAProgram.aspx?id=754&nav=756

And the FAQ could be useful as well: https://www.shrs.pitt.edu/PA_FAQ/

Thank you!! Also, to confirm, Pre-PA studies is a track, correct? Will I need to declare a major along with the track?

@sarthakP, You will need to declare a major, yes. You will also have access to an advisor who will help you choose prerequisite courses required for the PA degree and help you set yourself up for success with your goal to earn the PA degree.

I have a question, maybe weird, but clothes. Would people stare at or think it was odd to see a student dressed in shorts and tank top, and a coat, maybe combat boots walking around campus in winter?

As long as they are not armed I don’t think it would be a problem.

For any future Pitt parents, there’s a FB group called Pitt Parents, Class of 2019+ in case you are interested.

Hi,

today i received admit from upitts i-school for MSIS program. I am keen to know more about the university as well as the program.

  1. How is i-school in particular?
  2. How is the MSIS course.
  3. I already have WPI admit in hand ... I am confused a bit :|

Please revert.
Thanks in advance

Sorry I am not familiar with MSIS program. Did you visit, talk to anyone in the program?

@Shweta25, I would encourage you to contact the admissions staff at the iSchool. They offer information sessions, including a virtual information session if you are unable to make it to campus: http://www.ischool.pitt.edu/admissions/interact.php

Hope that helps!

Hello! I’m a rising freshman at Pitt this year. I recently got my housing assignment and was really disappointed. I requested towers a, b, or nordenberg (doubles) and got a single in tower c. It’s really annoying that after giving 3 different requests not even one of them was processed. After looking on the FB page, I could see that a lot of people shared my feelings. Anyway, my question is if I called Panther Central and complained, what are my chances of getting my dorming assignment changed?
