Pitt happiness

Weighing Pitt vs Syracuse. What so much unabashed love at Pitt? It's cool...
Just like to hear it from the horses mouth. And if you can offer any comparison to SU.

You posted elsewhere that your son is heading to Pitt in the fall and chose Pitt over Syracuse. Second thoughts? Did you double deposit?!! Isn’t it a little late to be deciding?

Syracuse was never on the table for us. As PA residents, Pitt was a much better value, and D had no desire to go further north for cold/snowy weather. My D chose Pitt over Penn State and never looked back. She liked the city setting of Pittsburgh and more diverse student body. Very happy with the academics. Greek life is available for those interested in that. Hail to Pitt!

I grew up near Syracuse, attended LeMoyne College (in Syracuse) and I’m happy my son is at Pitt. Much better school for the money for the majority of programs. The only programs that I can think of that are better at SU are Music and Communications ( Newhouse School). Comparing the two Cities-- Pittsburgh wins everyday of the week and twice on Sundays!

The biggest thing I love about Pitt is actually the PittArts programs. Loads of FRE awesome trips to cultural events like plays, operas, art houses, etc.mtransportation, ticket, and food are always provided and sometimes you’ll get to talk to a performer, director, or curator. It’s amazing how many connections Pitt has, especially considering that our neighbors CMU have a conservatory but no sort of program that comes anywhere near the extent of PittArts.
