Pitt Honors College: Has anyone applying to Pitt's Class of 2023 heard from the Honors College yet?

Has anyone heard from the Honors College yet? My son was thrilled to get his Pitt acceptance email last week! It didn’t say anything about Honors College, though. Does anyone know when they let people know about Pitt Honors College, in relation to their acceptance (e.g., same time, a month later, etc)?

Anyone who applies to Pitt Honors before November 1 (Pitt Honors Priority Consideration Deadline) will hear back by December 15.

Good luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks for your response! Do you know if the notices will be sent out in one big batch, or if it will be rolling like regular admissions are?

It is rolling, they are going to review the Pitt Honors applications after the November 1 deadline. Good luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Thank you so much! So, to make sure I understand: they won’t start reviewing Pitt Honors applications until after the November 1 deadline, and students would be notified anywhere between November 1 and December 15, it’s not that the notifications will go out in one batch when they’re all done. Is that correct?

Also, will students who didn’t get it be told they didn’t get it? Or will they just know that if they aren’t notified by December 15 that they didn’t get it? I know the process is different this year, and for one thing that this is the first year kids indicated (through the essays) whether or not they wanted to be considered for PittHonors, so I understand if admissions hasn’t decided on all the details of the process yet.

Anyway, thanks again for any information that you have at this point!

The exact process of notification within that window hasn’t been relayed to us yet. Once we have more information, I will be happy to share!

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks for the info, and thanks in advance for sharing it once you have more!

@hailtopitt1787 I know everyone will hear by Dec 15, but do you know if students will be notified about Pitt Honorson a rolling basis, with some students notified before others, or if they’ll all be notified at the same time? Have any students already been notified, or not yet?

@salingerfan, Everyone will get their Pitt Honors decision at the same time, on or before December 15. Good luck!

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Thanks! One more thing: Is it just the people who get into Pitt Honors who are notified? if you don’t get in, will you be notified that you didn’t?

@salingerfan, Everyone who applied to Pitt Honors will be notified of their decision and the notifications - regardless of the decision - will go out at the same time.

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Fantastic! Thank you.

E-mail from Pitt today saying that honors college decisions will be delayed due to the huge amount of applications they received. Decisions will be out no later than January 12.

I know that the email from November said “Those who met the November 1 Pitt Honors Priority Consideration Deadline will hear back from us by January 12 at the latest.” It didn’t say whether it will be an email or snail mail; I’m guessing snail mail since the merit aid was snail mail, but does anyone know?

Also, has anyone heard yet? Given that we’re supposed to hear by Saturday at the latest, if it’s snail mail they would need to mail things a few days before Saturday for anyone to hear by Saturday, so it’s within the realm of possibilities that the mail will have reached some people already. I know, it’s just a few more days so I should be patient, but it’s hard!

The Pitt admissions employee that answers questions on college Confidential posted on another string a couple of weeks ago that the notifications will be by snail mail and that they will be sent by Jan 12. I think that may mean that we won’t receive them until next week.

My daughter is feeling tortured with the wait as well!!

Hang in there and good luck!!

Does merit aid suggest that you will be accepted to the honors college? I got 10k in merit and applied to the honors college and I would love to get in but I didn’t know if one affected the other

@capa813 Good question! I would love to know the answer as well. Also, when people say 10K in merit, does that usually mean 10k per year or total (so 2.5 K per year)?

Found out yesterday. Denied. National merit semifinalist. 35/36 ACT. 4.5 GPA 1540 SAT. Lotsa ECs. Varsity soccer/captain. In state. White and not poor. Temple giving FULL tuition in honors program. T for Temple U!!!

Found out yesterday

Did you find out yesterday??
