Pitt Honors College?

Well, I've been accepted into the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, and I was wondering if anybody here would be able to give me an idea of what it's like. Do you feel that you're really getting the most you can out of your college years? What do you do for fun? What sort of person do you think is best suited for the program?

There have been many discussions on the Honors College in this forum. While you are on the main screen of the Pitt page, click search, type honors, and you’ll find many posts on the subject. Hope this help!

You should really read the forum first, I think I’ve probably answered this question about 8 or 9 times in my thread (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/1161888-rising-pitt-senior-here-ask-me-anything.html</a>) but anyway…to recap:

1- I definitely feel like UHC helps me to get a lot more out of college. They have additional resources (housing which is the best on campus, advisors, scholarship and internship help, etc.) to give you an extra boost in your academics. They also host a lot of fun stuff to get to know fellow UHC-ers (dances, socials, dinners, movies, etc.)

2- What do we do for fun: Um, anything? In UHC dorms we had movie nights, video game competitions, and study groups (okay not necessarily fun), but SHAC (The Student Honors Activity Council) helps run a bunch of other fun events: picnics, tournaments (soccer, basketball, flag football, etc.), movie nights, free dinners, speakers, trips to see shows downtown (Phantom of the Opera, ex.) My friends and I also did random things around campus: go to shows, trips to the museum, try different restaurants, whatever we felt like.

3- A good UHC person is a person who is willing to be involved, throw themselves into activities, be academically aware (not necessarily a genius, but you need to care about school), and willing to try new things. If you’re not one for meeting new people, going someplace new, or just trying a new activity, you might have a hard time getting anything out of UHC.
