Pitt Johnstown UPJ Housing

This group has helped me before and I really need your help again. My son is currently a sophomore at UPJ - Pitt Johnstown. He was hoping to transfer to the Main campus in the Fall of his Junior year, but that could not happen due to a curriculum revamp in his major. Now he’s running into another roadblock. It’s time to select housing for his Junior Year/Fall 2020. We were advised by the housing department that the only way he is guaranteed the housing he wants is if he forms a group of four. He does not know three other guys to form a group and the college does not have anything on their website to look for roommates. I even looked into a Facebook group to no success. To make matters even worse, without a group he will not be able to get a private bedroom even though we are willing to pay the extra fee. I would have thought as a Junior he would have been able to select the housing and type of room he wanted. I am so upset because he has had one disappointment after another. Can anyone help or offer suggestions on what I can do? I have been in touch with the Housing department but apparently there is nothing that they can do.

Has your son looked into the possibility of off campus housing?

@kidzncatz - Thank you for your suggestion. However, he prefers to stay on campus so he is close to his classes and doesn’t have to worry about driving.

From your post, It sounds like he can get some kind of on-campus housing, but is just not guaranteed his preferred choice. Hopefully he will be satisfied with if not excited by the choices available to him. Does he have a friend who might want to room with him?
