the laundry machines here are confusing! instead of warm, cold, etc. they have like whites, darks, and categories that I don't trust :S What do you guys use for jeans?? I'm thinking darks but I don't know if I trust these machines temperatures

That’s crazy. If you want something in hot water - set to whites; cold water - set to darks; warm water - set to colors. For jeans, I’d use the “darks” setting.

Not sure if all the dorm washing machines are the same, but if your washing machines are the same as in Sutherland, the “bright colors” setting is the one for cold water. Assuming the machines are the same, lift the cover of the washer, and there is a chart showing which settings are for what temperature of water.

I would recommend cold water for jeans, which in this case is bright colors. As I recall, the permanent press and regular color options were for warm water and whites was hot water.

Good luck!

The trick I use: pick any setting for your washer. Once you pick the setting, it should say what temperature of water is being used. If that’s not the temperature you need, pick another setting. Usually, I pick each setting until I find which temperature I need.
