Pitt Nurses Out There?

Why should we choose Pitt Nursing?
What are your top five personal reasons to choose Pitt?
How happy are you in the program and how helpful are the profs?
Feedback and thoughts greatly appreciated.

I would also like to hear some responses too!

The search the forum option does not work from my phone, but after posting this, I was able to get to a desktop and do a proper search. There are some old threads with nursing reviews which are worth reading. Even though not as current, the information is very useful.

I am a parent of two freshman nursing students at Pitt so my response is through what my daughters have mentioned to me.

One main reason they picked Pitt was that they have UPMC right across the street from the nursing school and also many other great hospitals are located close by. They don’t need a car to get to their clinical and the buses for Pitt students are free.
Pitt also has a great NCLEX passing rate.
The program it self is amazing, They have worked with cadavers in their first semester, and after talking with some of their friends whom have gone to other nursing programs, they feels that they are so much far ahead than their friends. their clinical’s start much earlier than some of the other school (sophmore year).
There are a lot of opportunities for research, UPMC is very well known around the world for its research.
Regarding the Professors, most of the ones that my daughters have had are great, there are always one or two that could be some what difficult, I think they have had 2 this year that they were disappointed with. The nursing students have study groups and are very happy to help each other out with the classes.
My girls are staying in the nursing LLC, their whole floor are nursing students.
The program is hard and there is a lot of studying involved. My daughters and their friends whom usually were getting A’s in high school, have to really study to get the grades.

My girls absolutely love going to Pitt. and loves the program. They feel that the education they are getting is first grade, The nursing students are wonderful in helping each other out and are a close group of kids.
