How hard is Pitt Nursing admissions compared to the other colleges at Pitt? I’ve heard it’s pretty difficult to gain admission to Pitt Nursing, but it is my top school. Does anyone know the avg SAT score for Pitt Nursing? Id like to see how i stack up to the competition.
Our Daughter got wait listed last week with a 3.75 UW 4.6 W 29 ACT ( 10 AP Classes) … however they only look at English and Math scores for ACT/SAT. My understanding no one makes it off the waitlist due to the demand. I will say, she did the priority application and did not send in recommendation letters like we did for others, which in hind sight was not a good idea. They asked for mid year grades which may have taken alot of spots before we were able to provide them. Fortunately, my D decided to go the Physician Asst route and got into an entry level PA school instead, and its ranked top 5 in the country and they accepted her with a nice scholarship. Pitt’s PA ranking is no where as high in PA as it is in nursing program. I guess it worked out for the best, because if she had been accepted it would have denied someone else a spot she most likely would not have taken to her other acceptances. Best of luck but fill out everything if this is your first choice. To provide you context she was accepted in 11 PA/Nursing Programs and Pitt was her only waitlist / rejection. Not a Hail to Pitt Fan…
Wow! I have a 3.6 GPA UW not sure what my weighted would be…I take all honors and AP classes. I got a 1930 on my SATs first time and am taking it two more times. I’ve got decent extra curriculars and have had hospital clinical experience which I think will make me stand out. Think I have a shot at all?
Also keep in mind that since Pitt is rolling, to have the best shot at competitive schools like nursing, try to get your app in early - like by Oct if possible.
She applied mid-October, according to admissions it was her English section of ACT that did not help (she was a 33 in science and 31 in math). The English and Math on ACT was only used for admission … As I said before we really were not focusing on Pitt due to the fact she wanted PA at the end of November and OOS tuition with no shot at merit due to her ACT score. She was also less then impressed with the dorms and was not overly impressed with the campus besides it’s nursing Reputation and access to clinicals … My suggestion is get your SAT Math and Reading in the 1350 zone to be a sure bet… Otherwise they ask for Mid year grades which only improved and did not help with her be accepting … Skip the priority application and send in everything…
But remember there are a lot of good schools out there and it’s not the end of the world and keep the student debt low!
Good luck !
