Pitt Online Application Messed Up

When I visited Pitt in August I filled out a paper application during Pitt Pathfinders with limited info and was told that I could finish/edit the rest of my application online once it was put up: senior roster (did not have but filled in some classes), test dates, essays, letters of recommendation etc.

Problem is that nearly ALL of the application that is said to be "submitted" is empty and unfinished! I can't edit/add any of it.

I was told to try to put down some of the classes I was taking and things like that and they aren't even on there!

I was also told I could upload my essays and send the rest of my supplemental materials later and I can't do that.

I received mail and emails saying that all I had to do to have my application reviewed is send my test scores and transcripts which I have not done yet.

The application says "Since you have submitted your online application, you can no longer make changes to your applicant information over the Internet. If you need to edit information previously submitted to us, please contact our office so that we may update your file."

So should I email and tell them that it's basically blank and I never even submitted it online. Maybe ask them to retract the whole thing so I can re-submit it properly? What do I say?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I would absolutely email them oafa@pitt.edu and tell them what happened. I’m sure they’ll free up your application so you can complete it and also you can supplementally submit your essay and maybe an activity resume just by attaching it to your email. My daughter was accepted, however, we did 2 supplemental submissions (essay and activity resume) after the initial application and they graciously accepted and responded back directly to her that it was rec’d. It’s early enough in the game - would absolutely tell them of your error. Good luck.

Yes, I definitely would contact them to get things straightened out.

We have been impressed with how responsive OAFA is. I had expected that in dealing with a larger school we would encounter a lot of administrative snags and hassles and not many live humans, but the kid has been very impressed with how easy it is to speak with a person and to get problems fixed.

My son’s online application is very sparse (simply personal data) despite the paper one being completely filled out. We assumed the paper one was there and only the personal data was needed online. As stated, he couldn’t edit online. Is this something to be concerned about? With the transcript they have his classes now, but if his activities were lost in translation he certainly would like to send a resume. Pitt Connect shows they have everything needed and his application is ‘Complete’. They have his preferred major so someone read/processed his paper application.
