Pitt < Penn State For Engineering??

I most likely will attend Pitt though because they are more generous with merit aid and I'm OOS, but does Pitt still have a strong engineering program? People keep asking me why I would go to pitt for Engineering when Penn State is right there and surpasses ti by far. our thoughts?

Yes, buyer’s remorse does set in when well-meaning “others” question your judgement.

First, you’ve already stated a great reason for Pitt over Penn State – you want to graduate with the least amount of debt!

My neighbor just completed his 1st year at Pitt Engineering. He choose it over Penn State because he liked the “all engineering” dorm at Pitt better. He also said he liked the smaller class size at Pitt (note - he wasn’t accepted into Schreyers which does have small class). He also believes the city of Pittsburgh is better for internships.

His Mom said the reason the parents liked it better was that the professors were very friendly and accessible when they visited and had questions.

Although USNWR ranks PennState engineering higher, PSU is a highly overrated school. Most of the highly talented students in my high school selected Pittsburgh over PSU. Pittsburgh has a better location for engineering firms while PSU is in middle of nowhere. You made a perfect choice!
