I got a letter from Pitt today saying they reviewed my application and are requesting addition info (senior year SATs and mid year grades). Anyone else ever hear of a college doing this? There is an option of just having them review my application as it is. Do you think this would be detrimental if I chose that option? Ahhh I'm confused.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it means that you’re kind of on the bubble for admission, and that this is Pitt’s version of deferring you? I remember this happening to one of my friends from high school. Don’t worry, he got in though in March, is a freshman there now, and loves it. I think he sent in his senior year grades though. Why don’t you call Pitt and ask them for clarification as to what the best way to go about this.

^ He/she is correct.

If you don’t care that much (Pitt is not your first choice), then you don’t need to do anything, but if you do, then try retaking the SATs, go better in your classes, etc.

Yes Pitt is not my first choice but I think I’m just going to resend my transcript after the first semester. I really don’t want to take the SATs again and already got a 1940. This letter was just odd and unexpected when a couple other kids in my school already got in so I thought for sure they were giving me an answer here.

What was your score breakdown (CR/M/W)? 1940 seems high enough…u in-state?

Yes in state.

CR: 590
M: 660
W: 690

If you don’t send in anything, most likely they will just reject you.

I gave them a call today and they said that due to an extremely high number of applicants, they requested a couple hundred to send additional information. They said the thing they need from me is my mid-year grades and to send those in in January for them to review my application once again.
