I, like many others it seems, received a letter from Pitt that I could be placed on a waitlist for Swanson or accept admissions to A&S. I’m not going to do wait list because I’ve heard some years no one is taken of the list.
So now I’m looking to go to A&S and attempt to transfer after my freshman year. I know the facts: 3.0 GPA to be considered. Take the freshman core engineering classes.
Here are my questions:
1.) everyone talks about having to get exceptional grades your freshman year in order to transfer but how good are we talking? 3.5? 4.0? 4.5? Is there like a “cut off” per say that would almost (I SAID ALMOST because obviously there are no guarantees) earn you a spot?
2.) for the required 7 or 8 classes (Chem, Calc, Physics, engineering) I know that you can take everything at A&S no problem except engineering, which I’ve heard you need permission to take…what exactly does getting permission look like? Do I just have to ask an advisor or do I need to earn my way into those classes as well?
Thanks!
