Hey all I need some serious help with a decision. I can either go to Pitt full scholarship and go bioengineering and premed, or I could go to Duke and go biomedical engineering premed. I live 3 hours from Pitt and 10 hours from Duke so that's also a factor. I'm wondering if I'll have a better chance to get into a medical school at either one. Any help on the topic would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

am i right in guessing you don't have a scholarship to Duke?

I'm 90% sure I'm going to Pitt next year and I'm going to pre-med. I think both schools have their advantages. I don't know tons about Duke's pre-med, but Pitt has the UPMC which is absolutely amazing. And if you got into the honors college at Pitt, I'm sure you did, then that is another plus. But basically it all comes down to gut feeling and where you would rather live for 4 years. Good luck with making the decision!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing tennisguy, UPMC is definitely awesome. At either school I'm going to try to get research in the medical schools. I also don't have any scholarship for Duke. We just visited Pitt again, and it's definitely nice. I love how the honors kids get the top of the tower. : )

yeah Pitt does have a great med school... i will be a freshman there next year (bioengineering major) and i am considering medical school after graduation... i have toured the med school and it really is amazing.. (they have this virtual reality surgery thing there) ..but really, go where you'll be happiest... if money is a fairly big issue, i think Pitt would be the better choice...as far as acceptance to med school goes, i believe that with the right work ethic and mcat scores, getting accepted from almost any college is a possbility...regardless of where you go, good luck! :)

I am also going to Pitt --Nursing; I chose Pitt over GW - hope I'm making the right choice!! Good luck!

i am also going to pitt's nursing program and i chose it over gw
