<p>I have been accepted by pitt and lehigh. Major is EE.
I want to go to the college which would make me feel comfortable, However, I am a international student. Visiting the campus is impossible for me now. I just got two days left to decide which college.
And I don't want to go to grad school, instead, getting a job in US after finishing my undergraduate study, so in this way I wonder which one can be the best choice for me.</p>
<p>Lehigh is good at engineering. And employer would like to employ the grads from lehigh of cause. But for international student, the result can be the same? </p>
<p>One of my friend is in pitt. She said it is a wonderful school, and people there is very friendly. I love that. But I don't know how its engineering school is? Would it be helpful for my job?</p>

<p>The two schools have very similarly ranked undergraduate engineering programs. [According</a> to US News](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/engineering-majors/1213609-usnwr-2012-best-undergraduate-engineering-programs.html]According”>USNWR 2012 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs - Engineering Majors - College Confidential Forums), the most popular (though perhaps not the most accurate) ranking in the United States, Lehigh’s engineering is ranked #42 (with a 3.2 score) and Pitt’s is ranked #48 (with a 3.1). So they are actually ranked right next to each other.</p>
<p>The two schools have very different settings. Pitt is larger and urban while Lehigh is smaller and has more of a traditional green campus. Pitt is significantly cheaper than Lehigh, so if cost is an concern, Pitt is probably your better choice. Pitt is also better known internationally (and perhaps even nationally) because it is a higher profile school with a much large research infrastructure as it conducts the 11th largest amount of research in the United States. Lehigh would generally be considered an overall better school as its admissions is more selective. However, having a friend already at Pitt may be a benefit as they could help your transition to college and the culture of the region. </p>
<p>They are two great schools, and really you don’t have a bad choice between the two.</p>
<p>Personally, I would say Pitt. Lehigh is more costly like the OP mentioned, so if $$'s an issue, go to Pitt because you would still recieve a great education but not have to worry as much about college debt. Pitt’s engineering school would be helpful (given you would work hard) and since you love the fact that people at Pitt are very friendly, it would be a fit for you. I have heard that Lehigh students are stuck up and rich white kids, but to be honest, you will come across students like that regardless of where you choose to attend.</p>

<p>I can tell you right now almost every single student coming out of SSOE is either going to graduate school, doing a fellowship, or has a job lined up before graduation happened. This is super impressive even compared to other “higher” engineering schools (UVA comes to mind-- my sister has friends who took >1 year to find engineering jobs). Pitt is GREAT about getting placement for its students-- either internship, co-op, or full time. You are right-- it will be harder to get a job as an international student as a lot of companies will require US Citizenship, or will not want to go through the hassle of employing an international employee, however, the career services group for SSOE are really good and will help you find a job.</p>

<p>The people at SSOE are really awesome too. A degree from SSOE in EE is DEFINITELY going to help you find a job!</p>
<p>The brightest young engineering student I know chose Pitt over Cornell and Carnegie Mellon for EE. This summer, he is interning in robotics at Carnegie Mellon.</p>
