Pitt vs UDel vs Dickinson Political Science

Hello I am a senior in Pennsylvania. Cost is not a topic in this thread. I just want to know about the political science department's at each school. All seem like they have good opportunities. I want to know about all aspects. Internships, research opportunities, etc. I have been looking up online and have visited each. Dickinson has its advantages since its all undergraduate, but its in Carlisle. Pitt is, obviously, in Pittsburgh. Would that be helpful for political science? Delaware is in Newark. Don't know about opportunities there? Does anyone have any isight on any of the Poli Sci departments at these schools? Any one want to add their 2 cents? Thanks!

no one wants to argue with you about how important cost is to your decision. there is no decision that doesn’t involve money.

having said that, it’s political science you want. it’s not exactly lit crit at Yale. any school will do, but Dickinson is probably the best of these for polisci. consider other elements: cost, study abroad opportunities, honors programs, housing, local environment, outdoor opps, food, etc.

My D1 was a political science & policy management double major at Dickinson. She had internships with a US Senator in DC (summer internship), at the Department of State in DC (through the Washington Semester – check it out, it is a GREAT way to spend a semester in DC – they provide nice housing, help finding internships, seminars every week, and you do an independent study project with a Dickinson professor during the semester as well – and get a full semester of credit). She also had a semester-long part-time internship at the Army War College in Carlisle (found out about it through the career office at Dickinson). She also spent a semester abroad, too.

If you are looking for a better experience with internships than that, I doubt you would fine that at the other schools you listed. However, a lot of political science students go to school in DC so they can have more internships during the year. American and GWU would be a couple of schools to look at there, assuming you don’t have the stats for Georgetown.
