do freshmen starting in spring do pittstart too, or do it another time?

Does anyone have the Pittstart dates for Engineering in July? S has not received the info needed to log in. Thanks!

what are all the possible dates for pittstart?

MTnest: Looks like 7/21 & 7/22- that's what I jotted down from the dropdown when S logged in and he's in engineering. BTW, finding his ID was a challenge- found it on an academic portfolio postcard. Eventually found it online: my.pitt.edu > login to portal > Student Services tab > Link to Student Center > Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Demographic Information
There's probably an easier way to find this though.

Thanks for the info! The 7/21 & 7/22 sounds good as the AP scores should be in by then. Guess we will make the hotel reservations and await the paperworks arrival.

We didn't get any paperwork on it yet. Just kept checking the PittStart site and eventually found it updated.

Got the Panther Central folder a couple of weeks ago. We specified Towers since that was where SPACE was last year. Read somewhere that an application for SPACE will show up on engineering site. If you see that, please post.

Do you have to go to PittStart after you get your AP scores? I'd rather go to the earlier ones in May to make sure I get the classes I want.

To those interested in engineering: Pitt saves seats for the engineers in certain sections of classes. There is absolutely no problem with getting the classes you need, except possibly for electives. Earlier PittStart, however, may help students to get the schedule they prefer.

Fishdontbite, that is a good question about APs. If I were you, I would call or e-mail:

I think the earlier you attend PittStart, the better.

As far as waiting until you have AP scores before you attend Pittstart, my D waited until the end of July to go to Pittstart so she would have her AP scores. The only problem she had with scheduling was she was shut out of English comp class and will have to take that next fall. She had some difficulty with availability of some gen ed classes, but they worked her into a speech class that she wouldn't have had to take until her junior year so they are pretty willing to get you into classes as long as they aren't the ones like English comp that everyone has to take. She AP'd out of quite a few gen ed classes so that made it a little more difficult in finding ones she still needed. She had no problem getting classes that pertained to her major (nursing). She was just glad she waited so she didn't have to sign up for classes and then drop or add classes based on finding out her AP scores after signing up for classes. I don't know how much of a problem that would be. Maybe some else could comment on that. I think it all depends on if you don't mind having to change things late in the game.

My daughter attended PittStart at the very end of June last year, and she had no trouble getting the Gen Ed classes she wanted, including English comp. Her AP scores had arrived on 6/23, so it was good timing. She did end up switching into a class later on, but it was no problem. Even though the class was officially closed, the prof gave permission for her to sign up.

thanks for the responses! I think I might just do the earlier PittStart because I wouldn't mind switching. :)
