Place out of Intro Chem?

Asked this in the UW thread, but general advice is appreciated.
Incoming freshman engineering major. Possibility of placing out of intro chem. good idea?

pro: avoid large, weed out course
con: less prepared for more advanced chem?

Do you feel you know the material well?

If you know the material then by all means do it. I did and have no regrets. Plus, unless you are ChemE or MatSE, you wont be doing “advanced chem” anyway.

Even most MSE people don’t use very much chemistry unless you’re doing polymer stuff. Most of the chem I did beyond high school level was done in my MSE classes and not in the extra chem courses I took (was debating between minoring in physics and chemistry, so I took a few extra classes in each).
