ok....i am reading all these posts and am quite surprised. I called Rice last week and they told me that the decision would be emailed on friday (last week) and I got the email. btw I got accepted!!!?YAYYAYAYYA! I never though i would specially because i am a transfer from a community college!!

Anywayz...i hope the best for all of you......and if someone could please help me with this question!!

What does Rice mean when they say that they meet 100% of your cost?
Is that through loans.....i am kinda worried because i have to support myself and i am estimating that they will loan me like 25 grands a semester,.,.,,,.,.PHEW!!! thats a lot...any one knows about this??

yea,.,.....get ready IDOC and stuff is a tedious process!!!!!!
Very hard to hide anything!!!LOL

You really need to talk to the financial aid office - but from what you've told us, you'll get a no-loan package that meets your full need, and probably a workstudy award of $1800.

eeek I am confused...
The deadline to apply for financial aid for early decision was November 15th. So I called the financial aid office for Rice and asked the person if I can still send in my financial aid stuff and he was like wait till you get accepted...ummm??? I just asked in general if someone applied ED and didn't yet send in the FA stuff and blah...

hmm.. that's interesting. You probably can wait since ED students get the pick of the litter when it comes to TENTATIVE financial aid but realize, you will still have to do the FAFSA in Mar so it really wont matter. I think that I think that if you send everything in now, it should still be fine. I would call another office, admissions maybe or ask to speak to a fin.aid director.

Hey guys, I just had a quick question.
I'm somewhat getting worried because Rice hasn't sent me anything, not an email notification or anything. I almost think they did not receive my app (that I submitted online...).
Should I be worried?

ok....i called them a billion times regarding my application and they were always very helpful and patient. They DO inform you if theyare missing any of ur documents, because they received my transcripts 10 days after the deadline. So that doesnot really matter.

Regarding the financial aid: I completed CSS and Idoc after I got my admission decision last week. U can do it b4....for me.,.its just a hassle. HOWEVER...after submitting i called the financial aid a billion times and they told me to fax them the copy of everything i sent to IDOC......SO they got everything the same day.....Today I got the award letter and lets just say...that they are VERY GENEROUS!!!! TRULY philanthropic......

Call them : ask them: they'll work with ya.....

hope this helps.....just a side note: the financial aid department can get a little grumpy(the guy who picks up the phone) if u call too many times.....my experience...LOL

btw...thanx anxious mom.....u were absolutely right.....for spring ...i just got the 900 work study...the rest all grant + FA.....including housing, tution etc... THATS A RELIEF.....

quick question though: how do u apply for summer semester?? is it grant based or loan based???

two more weeks until the letter and still no confirmation email =(
stanford and tulane got their confirmation emails out of the way a while ago.

i wonder if the rice administration knows how much they're freaking us out, hahaha.

They probably don't even care. But seriously someone should let them know. Waiting like this is torturous. But alas, just to more weeks and we'll all know. What I believe they did is if you had everything in on time, then you got no email. If you were missing something, they emailed you to tell you what it was.

yeah, that makes sense, but my status on common app was weird. it said my counselor rec wasn't in when it is. they're probably having difficulties uploading the common app stuff or something.

I sent an email many weeks ago requesting a login, today they sent me one! Interesting, under requirements they say my interview has been received, that's nice to know.

note:interview is not actually required, the form just says it for some reason

I sent an e-mail last week requesting the Login and PIN, and I just received it today. When I logged in, the Admission Requirements section indicated that my ED Agreement had not been received, yet my admission status says "Application Under Review." My ED Agreement was mailed along with the Secondary School Report, which was received. Is this going to affect anything?

I got a question, is everyone seeing the same number of items to be turned in?
Application Fee
Common Application
Common Application Supplement
Early Decision Agreement
High School Transcript
Interview
Secondary School Report
Standardized Testing
Teacher Evaluation

I'm guessing that's it. I was thinking maybe this was everything they received, but according to x0julie "not received" is an option. hmm...where is the signature sheet?

When I click on "Admission Requirements," there's a grid with columns labeled as Requirement, Staus (That's what it says... not a typo on my part. lol), and Comments. Everything but my ED Agreement has been received. I was also wondering why the signature sheet wasn't included.

Still no email but I finally got worried enough to call today and they say that my application is complete. No hints whether or not I'll be accepted though :( lol.

It seems silly for them to not email us, it would be easier for them than having to field all of our phone calls.
