Information on the upcoming July mailing mentions the foreign language placement exams that we may be able to take at home before we arrive for orientation. So I was wondering: what's the relationship between placement exams and AP exams? If we receive a high enough score on a specific AP exam, do we have to take a placement exam for that subject? (And speaking of which, what placement exams will we be taking in August? I assume foreign language isn't the only one.) Thanks very much!

actually, i believe foreign language is the only one. i think if you have high enough ap scores, you get credit for the class. i'm just hoping for a four or five on calc bc so i don't have to take that again.

There is some sort of placement exam that you can take in Chemistry, but I believe that that's for people who either didn't take AP Chem or didn't get a high enough score on the exam to place out of Chem 111. I didn't take the exam, but the rumor is that it's incredibly hard and that very, very few people took the test. Other than that, the only placement test that I know of is the foreign language placement test. AP Scores are used for all other placement.
