Placement Exams at UC Santa Barbara

Does everyone take the English Analytical Writing Exam? My portal says May 12, but is that the deadline to register or what? Also, I will major in Statistical Science, do I have to take a mathematics placement exam? If so when is the deadline?

They should have sent you a letter to your house regarding the writing exam. If you still haven’t received one, you should definitely call or email them. The letter they send you serves as your admission ticket when tou take the test. You also have ti pay for the exam in a check using the envelope they give you. You can also pay online which os a better option. The test itself is around 100 dollars, but if you used a fee waiver for the UC applications, you only have to pay $20. The statewide testing is on May 12. The testing is held at a local high school or college and begins at 9 in the morning. If you miss that date, you have an opportunity to take it at the campus sometime in September.

I don’t believe there is a placement test for math. I could definitely be wrong, though.

Actually, I forgot to mention that you are exempt from the writing test of you pass the AP and/or IB English exams and/or got a 680 on the SAT wriing portion and/or got a 30 on the ACT plus writing. That’s probably why you didn’t receive a letter from them.
