Placement exams

How far in advance of PittStart do the placement exams need to be taken?

This was from the email from Pitt:

Before arriving for your PittStart please complete the online placement exams. You will review the results of your placement exams with your advisor in your one-on-one meeting. The deadlines to take the online placement exam are:

Sunday, June 1st for all June PittStart Sessions
Sunday, July 20th for all July PittStart Sessions
Friday, August 15th for the August 19th PittStart Session

You can also take them at PittStart. After the initial meeting, advisors were taking students who needed to take their exams.

You can also place out of a lot of them depending on how high your SATs are. I think if you’re over 600 on math or critical reading, that gets you out of the math one, and possibly place you higher in freshman comp. You should double-check, because my memory may be faulty.

For engineering you have to take both math tests but you can skip the english if you have over a 600 cr. The advisors have a print out of your placement tests results along with your SAT scores at the advising meeting.
