Placement test after taking online precalculus

<p>Did anyone have to take placement test after taking online precalculus at your school before moving onto the next level of math?</p>

<p>I never had to take a placement test or online course.</p>

<p>I did Stanford University EPGY's online Precalc & Trig with a grade of A+; I did have to take a
placement test to skip it and go to the next year's course at my public
school. The test was the final given to student s who went through the
year long course.</p>

<p>Yes. /<em>kd;ljfalkdjf</em>/</p>

<p>I just self-studied it and took the precalc midterm and final in order to get into AP Calc. I'd imagine the policy for internet courses would be similar.</p>

<p>arwen15 & jfs4691,
Is it because the precalculus you took online was not accredited by Western association of schools and colleges, or other regional accreditation program?
I was wondering maybe you do not have to take a placement test if you took accredited online classes. Please let me know if you know any of your school policy on this. Thanks for your posts.
la montagne, It makes more sense in your case you had to take a placement test because you self studied and your school has to know if you are ready to take AP Calculus. Thanks for your post.</p>

<p>My school policy is simple, I am supposed to get permission <em>BEFORE</em>
I start on an external/online course from the Principal and have in writing
that I am allowed to skip a year of math before being allowed to do so...
after providing excruciating detail about the course, text, assesment,etc.</p>

<p>I did the course simply to avoid one year of boredom waiting for some
fun calculus to start.... :)</p>

<p>...in retrospect......
my Math department head was kind to me by allowing me to take the
Final and skip PreCalculus. :D</p>

<p>Course content-wise of course EPGY course material is >> most schools
equivalent syllabus. ;)</p>

<p>:) I also took two C courses online with EPGY because I wanted to take Java Honors instead of Java this year, and they made me take a mini-placement test... it was barely a test. But that was just to move from regular to honors, so I would think that to get into a course in general you'd have to take a more real test...</p>
