I have the same question... i want to take the chemistry and spanish placement tests, but i don't need to take the math one. is there any way to take both during orientation, or will i have to take one of them in the fall?

how long are the placement tests and do we have to pay?
Will everyone be taking placement tests?
If we're not taking placement tests what do we do instead?
sorry..so many questions

um, but the placement tests are free. and i believe they are about an hour or so.

not everyone takes the placement tests. they are to place people in classes, and if you do poorly, you'll be put into a workload class (which is like a remedial class, good for reviewing (or so i heard) and it yields no credit to graduation, is taught by a sac state teacher and yeah....basically really TRY to do well!!) i only took foreign language (cuz i'm getting a B.A.) and I don't have to take chem or math.

but in order to register for classes (like certain math or chem etc) you have to take the test.

if you're not taking placement tests, you can do whatever you want! go walk around campus...but it's ridiculously hot!! especially today! so maybe just go to the library? with the a/c and use the computer!

well, if you take the test in the fall and pass (as in pass out of a class you've registered for)..you have to drop that class and then register for another class (but this may mean that you'll be waitlisted or have an undesirable time slot)

if you know you have to take math...just go ahead and take the test (your orientation leaders will explain more about them). they're not painful...and same with the others tests. especially foreign language since if you score high enough, you can test out of having to take any foreign language since you demonstrate a high enough skill level..

for your first quarter. i suggest taking a light load and just sticking with GE's for now. There is a lot to get used to during your freshman year and a lot of things to do!

i believe they were easier than that...but i only took the foreign language one..and I don't remember the SAT's that much (that was three years ago for me).

but just look over notes and stuff. i think you're allowed a calculator as well..but check with that orientation website of the list of things to bring.

Wait if I don't take or don't pass the chemistry placement test, will I just be placed in CHE 2A (regular) instead of CHE 2AH (honors)? We'll still get units and it counts unlike workload English right? If I'm correct then I'll fulfill my chem requirement either way. I'm an cse major btw.
