Ok so i just took the algebra and trig placement tests. On the algebra i only missed 5 total. On the trig i got a 10/15. I am worried about that one will i have to take a pre calc class or anything. I scored a 730 on sats for math and took Calculus AB this year and prolly scored around a 4 but maybe got a 3. What are they going to do about the trig placement test? I want to go straight to Calculus at the very least.

Last yr my son was worried about this as well, believe he scored an 11. I think what his advisor said during pittstart (and forgive me if this is wrong) was an 8 was the min. requirement for that placement test to proceed into calc1.

If I’ve already passed out of Calc 1,2,3 and Matrix Algebra are the math placement tests still required? The site was a little unclear on if it was necessary or not.

okay thank ive been worrying a lot

Yes. I had AP credit to place me out of Calc 1 and 2 but still had to take all the math placements tests before I went to my PittStart.

Wait, if you got a 730 on SAT math, why did you take the algebra placement exam? Are we still recommended to take it, despite being exempt?

if your doing engineering you gotta take both math placement tests

If I’m a business major and I’ve gotten SAT scores above what it says I need for the placement tests, I don’t need to take them…right? Or am I missing something?
