Okay, I'm taking the French Language placement exam tomorrow at USC in order to hopefully place out of the foreign language requirement. I had already placed into French semester 3 (with a score of 459 on the online test), but got a 2 on the AP test... :(

Anyways, has anyone already taken a foreign language placement exam? What am I to expect? Is it like the AP test? All the info I got was that it's 92 questions, all multiple choice, with ~20 listening questions (which I'm reaaaaalllyyy bad at), and I have to get 82 questions right to place out. And I have 90 minutes to complete it. eek!

Ok I took the korean replacement test.

Basically you go into this auditorium with bunch of other people taking various other replacement tests. After awhile, they'll request people taking the language test to step out of the room (for the listening portion) korean replacement test does not have a listening section, but they asked me to move to another small room (they isolate each language in one room) we just continued on with our tests.

If you successfully pass out, they should give you the results (I think they do it a little bit differently during orientation but) I had to pick it up from some office (you can ask the test people btw) if you pass, they won't tell you how many you got correctly, just that you passed.

I took the korean replacement test and i found it really easy, but i dunno how it is for other languages. I heard its easier than AP tests or something... good luck

ok thanx! I'm leaving right now to take mine. ahh!

okay, I took it, and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I still probably didn't score high enough to place out of all 3 semesters, but it was way easier than the AP test. I actually understood most of the listening, and I normally fail that part miserably. I forgot a couple of the vocab words and made some guesses on the grammar and reading parts, so I guess I just have to wait and see. Did anyone else take a test today?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Son will take at orientation since 3 on AP Spanish not high enough at USC (unlike most other schools).

Oh, and it was 96 questions total, not 92. And there were 19 listening questions on the french. Good luck to your S!
