I have some questions about the placement test. I have received a 5 on AP
Calculus test, 4 on AP Statistics , 5 on AP Chinese test and 800 on SAT II --- Chinese Language with listening. I will be majoring in accounting while taking some business classes. So do I still need to take the Math placement test and Foreign language test on Chinese? Any answer will be really appreciated! Thank you very much!

For the first 2 years, the accounting majors generally take the same/similar classes to the students in Marshall. But on to your questions, you still need to take the math placement exam I believe, however, you will automatically be placed out of Math118 and 218 based on your AP exams, so the results won’t really matter as such. Business & accounting don’t have a language requirement since they’re B. of Science, so I don’t believe you HAVE to take the placement exam anyways.

You don’t have to take the Math Placement Exam!

(b/c you got a 5 in Calculus AB).

Also, you don’t have to take the FL Placement Exam.

on the pre-orientation homework, it says accounting majors are supposed to take the foreign language placement test

but i hear most kids who are in the business related majors say they dont have to take it

which statement is true?

i’ve heard “take it, but it only matters if you’re actually gonna take a foreign language, so dont worry about it”

so i’ll probably take it…eventually

I’m probably gonna just skip the FL test first and ask ppl during the presentation to see if i have to take it. but i still kinda confused about the math test… thanks akalboy and nhsharvard for replying! but it seems like there are two different answers for it… does anyone know for sure if ppl with 5 on calc ap have to take the math placement test?

I talked to the vice department chair for the math department about getting credit for my 4 on the AP Calculus test.

If you want to take Math 126, the department will let you. If you want to take Math 125, they’ll let you take it as long as you talk to your advisor during orientation.

I talked to the vice chair because I’m intending to major in math.

that’s GREAT! thanks nhsharvard! I guess i just got waived out of all the placement tests! that’s what i love about usc – they just make everything soo much easier! FIGHT ON!!
