<p>I heard that Rutgers have a placement testing for all incoming freshman. Can anyone explain what that is about?</p>
<p>It is exactly what it sounds like. You take a test to determine what classes you are capable of handling. For instance you score low in math then you will take the math according to your score, ect. Just ever school has placement test. If you are unable to attend testing days have your high school counselor contact Rutgers and get permission to have your test sent to your high school and be given by proxy. If you are going to have to do this make sure it is taken care way before the end of your high school year.</p>

<p>yes, everyone has to take the placement tests</p>
<p>Unless you have AP credit in the subjects tested (English, Math, or Language). I had AP Calc and English, so I only had to take the French placement test.</p>
<p>So if you took AP and scored a 4 or better, you don't have to take those placement tests for those classes? Wait, wouldn't it be better to do worse if thats the case since if you end up in an easier class for the english/humanities and your a science major, it would give you a lot of grade inflation?</p>
<p>Not accepting your AP credit (which is also possible) is rare in English: most people try to get out of Expository Writing if they can, its a difficult course. And I can't see why you would want to retake Calc or a lower language level if you already know the material, it would just be boring.</p>
<p>If you get a 600 in your verbal you are exempt from taking that portion.</p>
<p>Really? i never heard that one, but it's possible. I feel like that's not true because a ton of Rutgers freshmen would fall into that category and everyone takes the placement test... did you read that somewhere?</p>
<p>my kiddo is in the honors college and had 4s on ap and still had to take placement test also was above 600 on the sat so i think if you have anymore question please contact your admissions officer or the office itself they will be able to help you with everything</p>
<p>On the sign up site is a question on whether you scored above 600 on critical reading. If so, you are instructed to show up at 10 am that day.
Do you also take a foreign language test that day?</p>
<p>Foreign Language test are usually after the regular placements tests. You will go to another building.</p>
<p>How long are the foreign language tests?</p>
<p>Depends on the department. Mine was around 60 questions.</p>
