I plan on going to Rochester next year. However, I come from a high school whose students mainly go to local state colleges. All of the ones here, in Wisconsin, require placement testing. I am just curious how Rochester places students in classes...

yeah, i was curious about that too, cause placement testing would suck...i was planning on just starting fresh this august end/september w/out spending my summer studying for all the subjects and all...

LOL, well this isn't a good situation, us not knowing if we have to take placement tests. Most kids in state schools around here are taking them, or have taken them already.

I found out from the URAdmissions screen name thing that UR doesn't have placement tests and she also said "everyone is assigned an advisor and you meet with that faculty member to talk about the classes you will sign up for, its an assesment on what you feel comfortable with, your academic history, and if any restrictions apply due to requirement or level of dificulties of courses you get adescription of all the courses offered so you can pick what you are interested in so yo can have an idea before you meet up with your academic advisor and this would be during freshman orientation sometime like (Aug29-Sep4)"

well, no, i think there's a placement test for math, tho i wasn't able to find anything more specific than that. it's also possible that there's a placement test for some languages. but nothing like local state colleges. most of the classes you'll either start from the bottom or use AP/IB credit to get hihger up.
