placement testing

is there a time we have to get our placement testing in by for math, language?

is there a deadline?????????????????????????????

just wanna make sure its not like this monrth or anything...dont need an exact date

in order to register for math or foreign language.. you have to take a placement test (unless you have college credit already for math/foreign language)

so no there is no deadline, but if you want to take math or whatever in the fall, you have to do it either on your a&o date or there's a couple left in this month

so we take it when we go to our a and o? alright, thanks!

you have to register for it...

If you're referring to the math placement test, no, you don't need to register - it's a drop-in test.

they have walk in tests at schmitz hall.

That website has the information for the testing during the quarter.

wow, so every weekday between june 16 and oct 2 they have tests? cool so that means i can pretty much just go whenever.....thanks for the link!

Anybody happen to know how hard the Spanish placement test is? I'd like to place into 103...but, its been a while since I've taken Spanish (about a year).

I didn't take the Spanish test but I think there is multiple choice and I know there is a listening part.

Too bad you didn't take Japanese -- it was soooooo easy. I hadn't taken it for two years and I placed out of first year (but choosing to go into 113).

what kind of material was on the test? (japanese)

It was multiple choice with no kanji and no listening. Mostly it was fill in the blanks or complete the sentence. I don't remember exactly (took it last autumn) but there were questions using "suki", "no hou ga", "~tai desu", "~koto ga arimasu", tenses of verbs, nouns and adjectives, pick the best particle... pretty much if you go through a first year textbook that is what is on the test. I reviewed for about 2 hours before the test and could guess on most of the questions. Some of the questions weren't as easy, but even if you didn't understand what it meant you could probably eliminate the other choices.

thanks for the info!

if you choose to start from the very beginning of a language, you don't have to take the placement test, right....?

I didn't have to for french 101, but I would check on the particular language requirements.
