Placement Tests

I was recently looking into what placement tests i have to take. i know that i don't have to take the writing placement because i scored higher than a 1050 on the reading and writing parts of the SAT. But for math i am unsure, i took Precalc last year through LIU, but i didn't pay for the credits, so that will not count. I just took my AP Calc AB test today and i get my scores back July 9th, my orientation is July 10th.. does that mean i am still required to take the placement? i also scored a 770 on the math section of my SAT. As for the foreign language, I am in St Johns french for my second year, but I didn't pay for these credits either.. although my french proficiency exam i scored a 100. so do i still need to take this placement test as well?
Thanks1

Writing placement - you don’t have to take the writing bc of the >1050. If you don’t take it, then you are automatically enrolled in 101. If you do take and score a 4, then you can go straight to 102. Here’s the link with much more detailed info - http://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/writrhet/for_students/placement.html

Math - Even with the AP exam, the placement exam is still recommended - link - http://assess.math.sunysb.edu/

Hope this helps.

Correction - you’d be in 102, not 101 if you have a 1050 on the CR/W portions.

Chris, can you clarify? The info below taken from the website gives contradictory information.

Prerequisites for Writing Courses

WRT 101: Prerequisites have been recently revised. Most students have the option of placing out of WRT 101; however, students who score 3 on the writing examination must take WRT 101. See criteria below for determining if you should complete the online writing examination.

WRT 102: Prerequisites include a score of 4 on the writing placement examination, OR successful completion of WRT 101, OR a combined SAT verbal + writing score of 1050 to 1219, OR appropriate transfer credit.

Placement Criteria

Please read the criteria below to determine if you should complete the Writing Placement Essay:

(1) You earned a score less than 1050 on your combined SAT Verbal and Written score. In this case, you do not complete the Writing Placement Essay and must enroll in WRT 101.

(2) You earned a score between 1050 and 1219 on your combined SAT Verbal and Written Score. In this case, you are encouraged, but not required, to complete the Writing Placement Essay. If you do not complete the writing essay, you must enroll in WRT 101; if you do complete the essay, you will be placed into either WRT 101 or WRT 102.

Thanks for your help.

Also, what are the cut-off scores for wrt 101/102 with respect to the ACT?
