Placement tests

Soo i took my placement testt today...how about you guys? and what'd ya think?

English=death, math pretty easy, chem extreamly easy.

I really did not understand the point of me taking them since:
1. I will be going to Schreyers so I have to take Eng 30 regardless
2. I got a 5 on the AP chem test so I will get credit for chem 12, 13, and 14
3. I am in AB AP Calc this year and plan on getting at least a 4 which gives me credit for Math 140 which I think is all that you can place out of and you might need to take another test to do that anyways.

So yeah totally pointless exercise that took up most of my saturday afternoon. Oh well not like I had anything else to do yesterday!

I took them last weekend. They weren't really anything to worry about and I think it was pointless as well, although I suppose they serve a purpose.

Can someone please tell me how long it takes to get your testing ifno after you have sent in your acceptance?

Is there a foreign language requirement/placement test as well?

You should get your FTCAP info 3-4 weeks after you send in your acceptance. The standard FTCAP has no foreign language section but I don't know if you need these for anything else.

How do they conduct these tests online? Wouldn't it be easy for people to cheat? Regardless of how simple they may be, I can guarantee you people will get some "assistance." But in the end it just hurts them.

Can anyone tell me what kind of stuff they ask? Is it SAT type questions? Do you need to know literary terms or a lot of grammar for english? . I am not sure what they could ask for chemistry. Do they give a periodic table?

Thanks.

I still have to take mine.
I have to find a regular computer to use since my computer is down.

Of course people can cheat, but in order to take the test you have to agree to a confidentiality statement declaring that you will not cheat. The questions aren't bad; they're not SAT at all. The chemistry may give you some difficulty if you can't do basic things. For the math section you can take a calculator or a non-calculator part. I took the non-calc and it wasn't bad.

If I do well on these placement tests, will I be able to take higher level courses? I have taken the AP english lang aexam, but I only got a 3, and I have taken the AP Calc AB exam and got a 4. This year I am taking AP Chem AP Calc C and AP English lit. I plan on getting a 5 on the calc, a 4 on the chem, and maybe a 3 or 4 on the lit, will this let me start at schreyers level courses?

You'll have to talk to your academic advisor about which classes you want to take and where you should start.

How long was the Math section supposed to take????

Because I think my test got messed up.

45 mins-1 hour maybe.

Crap, that stinks. I took the calculator one and I guess I only finished like 35 questions out of 70. My clock like started out at 1hour 40 minutes,, and it timed out with 55 minutes left.

Oh well, I didn't really take it too seriously. I guess I'll just get put in an easy class and get A's or B's

You might be able to ask the FTCAP folks if you could log back in and finish your test.

Yes, if you had problems with the tests you're really supposed to call them ASAP, but maybe they'll let you retake it if you call now.

These tests should be taken seriously because they determine where you start your studies! You've worked hard throughout high school taking your classes and you deserve credit for having taken them.

I just finished taking my test and they were ok, nothing to worry about. Some parts of the English was difficult, but overall I feel I did pretty well. When do you recieve the notification of when you go to the academic advisier?

I took mine about 3 weeks ago and got my date last week, but I think that most others have yet to get their date to go up since the website to reschedual them does not become active till wensday.

What residence hall did you choose to live in? I chose Discover House in Pollock.
