Placement tests

How do you go about requesting to take the placement test (we are in particular looking to place out of Calculus 1 if not both 1 & 2)? Can it be taken online? My daughter is signed up for orientation on Jun4/5th and we are hoping to take the test before going for the orientation, so that she knows which classes to sign up for?

Is there any other information that we should review (such as Fall course listing) prior to orientation?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

@sunparent - Here is a link for the math placement test and other orientation info

The test can only be taken online and it really should be taken before you go to orientation. It must be taken before your student will be allowed to register for classes, and it is not a good idea (in my opinion) to be taking it at orientation.

As I recall, placing out any of the Calc classes is based on the results of the math placement test and any Calc AP scores (if taken)

Thanks! Does this math placement test also help place out of Calculus potentially? Or is it a general evaluation of math skills? My daughter is taking Calc BC this senior year. For some reason, at the time of registering for AP exams we decided to skip Calc BC exam and focus on the others. So she will not have AP score on this.

You can place out UNTIL Calculus, I believe. (It doesn’t test for calc. Calc (MATH140) is the highest you can place in with just the math placement test. You’d have to bring in an AP test to get out of MATH140 and MATH141)

Thanks, and is it a 4/5 to get placed out? Or a 5?

The website can show you how AP credit is handled:
