Placement tests!

Hi all,

My orientation isn't until August, but I was wondering how hard the Math and French placement exams are, and how much I should brush up for them? On SAT Subject Tests, I received an 800 on the Math II and a 710 in French. Also, for Math, I received a 5 on AP Calc AB (my school didn't offer BC) and I received an A (4.0) when I took Calc II at Oakland University (dual enrollment as a high school student). I haven't taken French in a year so I'm studying at least a little for the French placement exam anyway.

Also, could I get any pointers, like "study your trig properties" or "know your verb tenses"?

Thanks in advance!

Hi op the math placement you take online through ctools. It was very easy. It should be for you based onyour math history. It is precalc math. If you ever took that class that is what the test is. It is very easy. You should do great

Don’t worry about the math at all. Firstly, it’s really easy, secondly, if you do poorly they’ll still place you in Calc 3 because of your credits.

French, I don’t know. The Latin was hard but I heard the Spanish and French were really easy. Maybe someone who took it can help you on that.

^Latin … AACK I had to skip to poetry section entirely b/c (1) I didn’t know any poetry and (2) I ran out of time. The test was entirely written (no multiple choice). There were only 3 people taking the test (including me) when I was there … no one could finish the test.

Btw how do you get results for the Latin test? I still have yet to hear about how I did (I probably got no credit).

French and Spanish were multiple choice.

ab2013… What’s your name? I think I know you. Jason? (If I remember your name correctly?)

The Latin was an absolute nightmare. The vocabulary for the prose and poetry translating sections was very limited, and I only knew about 2/3 of the words.

Oh dear, I thought I heard elsewhere that they gave you a vocab list. So would anyone recommend knowing a particular set of vocab on the French test?
