Placement Tests.

Hey - I have a quick question. If you go to the Princeton AP credit site - Advanced Placement and Advanced Standing - Princeton University -, and scroll down to Physics, it says that they offer up to 2 credits for the Physics C AP exams (tentative BSE major, not AB). However, it seems like there is no way to get just 1 credit. It's either 0, or 2. I got a 5 on Mechanics and a 4 on E/M, so I 'would' qualify to get Mechanics Credit, but not the E/M credit.

I don't want to retake BOTH physics in college. That's what the AP exams were for, right?

So I've considered taking the placement test exam once I get up to New Jersey. But here's the dillemma - will I have to take Both Placement tests? I've heard the placement tests are harder than the AP exam. So I'd probably have to learn E/M really well, and then also review Mechanics really well. Frankly, I'm a little too lazy for that at this point in time.

What do you guys think?

IF you don’t want to spend your summer just studying for the placement tests, then I suggest let nature run its course. If you’re not good enough to pass the placement tests then you’ll probably have a really bad time in upper level courses you’d otherwise be placed to. Just let it be. :)

Ordinarily I’d agree with you, but after the first year of physics, I’ll never have to take physics again in college. Ever. So, you can see why I’d kind of want to do that.
