I'm going to be a freshman at Swat in the fall and I was wondering if and when they have placement exams. All of my friends have had placement exams for their colleges, but they're going to state colleges, so I assumed it worked differently. But I was on Swarthmore's site today and it said something in the orientation weeks schedule about taking placement exams or doing follow up on placement exams you did over the summer. If anyone can remember how they did placement exams, I'd find it really helpful

They used to have a math test you were supposed to do some time in the summer. And I am pretty sure there are language placement tests during orientation.

Yeah, they’ll send us a math placement test soon. You can take it during orientation week, too, but then there’s time pressure. They might send us chemistry too (I forget). The others we all take during orientation week, I think.

Yep, from what I remember, everything is offered during Orientation, and math is mailed home if you want to do it then (or at all). :]

i did math and language preliminary tests online over the summer. if you placed out of basic language courses you were scheduled for a second, on-campus language test during orientation week. i don’t know about math because i didn’t follow up with it (i won’t be taking math at swat). i think the rest are written tests offered during orientation week (except for chemistry, maybe, as someone said…i don’t know about that one either since i’m not doing any math or science beyond the 3 required).

thanks all of you!
