ok so... at the beginning i felt i needed a break from school so i put off the placement tests but now im coming down to the thread.. its july 21st, i have orientation the 26th, i didnt finish any of the placement tests..........
AM I SCREWD?
and btw how were they, shud i brush up on some stuff i really havnt worked at all since school ended, hah enjoying summer too much ^^

They’re easy, don’t worry about it. Unless you’re taking the Latin one, that sucked.

I found the Spanish placement test to be very hard, despite having taken three semesters of college Spanish already that were supposed to be in a comparable program. My adviser is freaking out about it and trying to get the department to override my placement, I lost two full semesters.

I doubt the content itself was very challenging at all, but I had a lot of trouble with the formatting. It was half listening and half reading. The listening went very quickly compared to the recordings I was used to, we had no repeats, and only a few seconds to process everything, read the answers, and select the correct one. The reading section was easier but I was not used to having a single sentence with zero context to go with it, so that was tougher than I expected it to be as well.

I didn’t have to take any other placement tests. They aren’t anything to worry about if you don’t mind starting from the beginning, my Spanish outcome may cause me to be unable to graduate on time now, but most people don’t have as much trouble with these things as I did. In classes past, for me, the content was more rigorous than on that test but in a less time intensive format, apparently.

During my Orientation, there were a few people who hadn’t finished their placement tests. They just got scolded and were pulled out of the regular activities to finish the math one. The people who didn’t finish the writing placement test were told they had to do it within the next week, or else they’d be screwed.

The Latin one sucked? Well, I guess I’ll be taking 2 years of language there.

"They just got scolded and were pulled out of the regular activities to finish the math one. "

Just tell them to ASS-TEE-EFF-YOU… This is college, they have no business “scolding” you… you can curse back at them just as loudly…especially on people who have no bearings on your futures… for example…you shouldnt **** off a professor who would be teaching you in a small class next year…other than that… dont put up with that crap

btw how long did the math and writing placement tests take you approximately?
im on a tight schedule cause i got work at 5-10 most days, i hit the gym 10-12 so during noon is really when i have time, about 3-4hours to myself (that is if im not in the pool xD)

For the math you get a maximum amount of time of either 45 or 50 minutes, I forget which. You can’t go over that amount of time, though. The essay you can take as much time as you want.
