I was looking at the Orientation site, and it says that we must take some of the placement tests. For me, I am required to take the math and foreign language placement tests. But, I thought since I already took AP calc, and I'm taking AP stats this year, that I'm exempt from the test? And for the foreign language, I did not take spanish this year, so I hardly remember anything. Are the tests hard?

As to whether they are hard - I don’t know, because I didn’t take them (I’m a mom). Remember, they are placement tests, so how well you do simply indicates in to which classes you will be placed.

i’m in a very similar situation (took calc, taking stats, not taking spanish this year). i’m pretty sure i have to take them, and i’m concerned about forgetting the content (and thus, having to review a years worth of calc and a bajillion years of spanish). how are the tests?

Does anyone know if the math and foreign language tests are AP level difficulty?

i don’t know about spanish, but i found the korean test to be very very easy. and i had never taken formal korean lessons.

the test was 1 hour long but i finished in about 30 minutes and was placed in 4th semester (only 3 semesters are required for your degree). after enrolling in korean 4, the professor told me to switch to korean 6. then again, take my advice with a grain of salt because i speak korean at home, read korean news articles, chat online in korean etc.

Where do you take the placement tests? It says take it online on the placement test website, but is it at USC?

i took mine at USC during orientation but that was 4 years ago so things may have (or perhaps probably have?) changed since then
