<p>How much harder is Chem 31x than taking Chem 31A and 31B</p>

well, I probably won't get into 31x anyway because I didn't take AP chem (not offered at my school)...but since I'm thinking of being a chem major I probably should take 31x?</p>

<p>ultimately it doesnt matter what u take, if u take 31x, u'll simply be in a faster track, since u already know ap chem, etc. you then go straight into chem 33, etc.</p>

<p>supposedly, the AB and the X courses cover teh same material, but i mean c'mon, AB spans 2 quarters, its worth twice as many units as 31x. you're gonna get more in depth into everything.</p>

<p>also, because people i know who have taken 31A/B say its really hard, and people who've taken 31x say they were glad they didnt take the A/B track.</p>

<p>to go straight into 31x w/o ap chem, you take a placement test at the beginning of the year</p>

<p>if you never take a 31 class and go straight to 33, i believe you keep your AP credits, but as soon as you enroll in 31a/b/x, you forfeit those 5 (i think?) units. if you never take any chem classes, yes you keep the 5 units</p>

<p>chem 33 winter quarter was really really really hard, and chem 33 spring quarter I think was either really hard or really really hard (but not as bad as winter) </p>

<p>it is actually possible that chem 33 fall quarter would be the easiest because it would be off track for both 31x and 31a/b</p>

<p>Good point. Looks like they don't offer it in the fall. At least this year they didn't.</p>
