Places to shop!!

This may be useful for later on --
but where are pretty good/ decent places to shop; online preferably + the url
& not so pricey.

Clothes; Cool dorm things like bed sheets, desk lamps, chairs, frames, mirrors, etc...

Teen Bedding, Furniture & Decor for Teen Bedrooms & Dorm Rooms | Shop PBteen

I LOVE PB TEEN. They have the best stuff.

I'm only doing PB for bedding. Everything else can be purchased at a reasonable price from the nearest Target or BedBath&Beyond (most of it is PB knockoff anyway).

Ikea for room furniture

haha...
target or ikea for furniture. (
clothes at gap, old navy, american eagle, or target.
i think it's pretty affordable.

^ Congrats! You must be oober proud of your acceptance that you made your username that way... Lol, did you have a previous one already? :P

wow, saks and neiman marcus?
haha... i could never afford that...

depends on your definition of expensive...

I have already picked out my bedding in stuff. Well I have a bunch of possibilities but I think I know what I am doing. PB teen rocks because they have the mix and match bedding tool so you can see what it would look like before you buy it.
Now I have to pick out all the other good stuff like desk stuff.

true that. All the department stores are like that. Once they have a sale, it is like a REAL sale. Nordstrom had a sale around my dads birthday and I got 65% off of two ties. My dad was like in shock because they were like really nice ties that I got for like 100 each.

You'll totally blend in at Exeter with those.

Please notice the sarcasm *

once again, hats worng with gap? or Banana Republic? Or Ann Taylor. They're all rather inexpensive (esp. on sales!) and look just like the uber expensive stuff. Just saying.

There's nothing wrong with them.
They are not my style though. I'm more of a J. crew hollister and abercrombie person. They may be expensive but they have cute stuff.

Um no one ever said anything bad about Gap or any of those other stores, unless I missed something.

But lets not turn this into people arguing over what brands are better or preppy or whatever.

Do people REALLY dress so upscale at Exeter? I am fine with things such as Ralph Lauren, Jcrew, etc. Neimen Marcus and Saks is just so incredibly excessive for a high schooler.

I can easily afford it (can, whether my parents will or not is a different story), but what is wrong with something a little lower scale? I am not talking about going to kmart on sale but not so incredibly expensive...

On a side note, at Exeter I cannot imagine more than twenty percent of students in such clothes... Around half get FA, it would be shameful for them to splurge on such clothes when the school is paying for a good portion of education (our society was not/is not/will not be egalitarian, ever)... Even for those above the FA barrier, paying 2k per Neimen Marcus clothes will sacrifice some other things that they want to do. After that there will be people, wise people, who understand paying so much for clothes is... excessive.

true that principalviola, i have to say that buying from saks or places like that is indeed overstepping if you are on full financial aid or somewhere close to that region. i know that the dress code is formal at exeter, but is it really necessary to have to buy the most expensive clothes?

I am not saying that anyone (not those on FA, and not those Full) should have to go to goodwill. I think everyone can find something affordable in the ranges of Gap/LL Bean/J Crew through Polo/Brooks Brothers/slightly more expensive.

Depends on what you can afford.

For a lot of people those stores aren't necessarily affordable, especially Brooks Brothers.

Hence the range. I am not saying all of that is affordable. You can get the same stuff at the latter half (without the "ambiance", but no one really needs ambiance) at Gap etc.

I'm still saying though for a lot of people at BS Gap is expensive and is at the top of the range and not at the bottom.
