I'm planning on visiting Indiana, and i'm wondering if there were any recommendations on where to stay, or what we should do on our visit.

You can stay at the Memorial Union, as hazmat suggested, if money is no object. (It isn't cheap.) My son visited Indiana on his own and ran into a music student he knew from back home--ended up staying in that kid's room. You can arrange dorm stays certain times of the year--check with the housing department or visitor's information about that.

We were fortunate to meet an Indiana family online and get invited to stay with them when we took our son to IU to begin school. So we didn't have to look into hotels too much. I know there are a number of them around. A google search should find some.

As for what to see, take plenty of time to walk around campus. It is big and very pretty. The art museum on campus is impressive if you like art, especially ancient art. There are lots of nice ethnic restaurants in downtown Bloomington, just off campus, if you need a place to eat--decent prices and good food. Visit whatever department(s) you are planning to apply to, of course. There are usually music events going on, if you are a music student. Check IU's website for more info--they have a page about visiting, I believe.
