Plagiarism question

the assignment was to make a multiple choice test of 50 questions

is it plagiarism to use questions from other sources (cliffs, sparknotes, other teachers) without citing them?

feedback would be great!

I think that would qualify as plagiarism.

Yes, it would be considered plagiarism. The teacher is trying to help yo study by having you examine the material and create the questions. That's an excellent way of learning material. Getting the material from other sources is like copying someone else's work. It also isn't a good way of learning the material.

assuming you were allowed to use outside sources... would you have to cite it?

isn't citing questions like citing a dictionary when using definitions out it?

You have to cite them

dictionary is a reference, its general knowledge, meaning citing is not needed

if you copied something word for word out of a dictionary, then you would have to cite it!

Even IF you didn't need to cite (which isn't true) do you really feel using sparknotes for the questions is what the teacher intended? Is it in the spirit of the assignment? I don't defiantly think so....not to be harsh, but just write your own questions!!

and have a great day!

yes, that's a prime example of plagerism.

i appreciate all of your input...

i overheard some students from another teachers class doing so, and wondered if i could possibly getting a way with a couple, but as stated earlier... what would i honestly get out of that?

i love forums, you get answers so quickly.
thanks everyone!
